The Lion King
A Plot Summary

The Lion King kicks off in the beautiful pride lands. Rafiki, a wise old monkey christens Simba, the newborn son of the King Mufasa and his wife Sarabi. He then holds him up over Pride Rock to show him proudly to all the cheering animal kingdom.
The next scene we see Mufasa showing young Simba all of the kingdom. He tells him about the Circle of Life, and how it affects everybody.
Scar, Simba’s scheming uncle, is very angry that Simba has knocked him out of the next place in the line of the throne. he tells Simba about an elephant graveyard. Simba does not know that thats where the hyennas live, and that the hyennas are very hungry. he asks his mother if he and his best friend, Nala can go tothe water hole. their mothers ‘agree, but only if Zazu, Mufasa’s assistant goes with them. Simba and Nala disobey Zazu, and go to the graveyard. (“I Can’t Wait To Be King”) There, they meet Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed, the hyennas who try to eat them but Mufasa rescues them. On the way home, Mufasa tells Zazu to take Nala home so he can “teach his son a lesson”. Once they are alone, Mufasa tells him that he is very disappointed with him. He not only disobeyed him, but he put his and Nala’s lives in danger. He explained that being brave doesn’t mean going around looking for trouble. He told Simba that he was scared that he had lost him. Having reached an understanding, they played together in the grass. Simba asked his father if they would always be together, and Mufasa told him that the Kings of the Past are in the stars in the sky, and they were there to watch over him, and when Mufasa’s time came so would he.

Meanwhile, Scar gains the loyalty of the hyennas by saying that if he becomes king, “they would never go hungry again”. (“Be Prepared”) Scar tells the hyennas that to make that happen, they would have to kill Mufasa and Simba and devised a plan.
A little while later, Scar lured Simba out to a gorge, where the hyennas start a wildebeast stampede. Mufasa races to save Simba. He saves his son, but is left hanging on the edge of a steep cliff. instead of saving him, Scar flings his brother off the cliff, the stampede charging below.
Simba saw his father fall and rushed down to him after the stampede, only to find him dead. Scar convinced him that if was his fault that his father died and told him that to avoid punishment he must run away and never return.
In a desert far away, Simba was found unconscious by Timon and Pumbaa, a meerkat and warthog duo who are outcasts. They nurse Simba back to health and adopt him, using their carefree philosophy, hakuna matata. (“Hakuna Matata”)
When Simba is grown into an adult, he is found by Nala, who can’t beleive that he is alive and tells him that Scar has turned the Pride Lands into a burning wasteland. She asked him to return home and take his rightful place as King, but he said no, still thinking that he caused his father’s death.
That night he took Nala on a tour of his home and the two begin to fall in love. (“Can You Feel The Love Tonight”)
Nala still does not know that Simba thinks he is responsible for his father’s death and tells him that she does not understand why he does not return to the Pride Lands and the two end up in a fight.
Rafiki arrives and he and Mufasa’s ghost convince Smba to go back to Pride Rock.

However, when childhood friend Nala (Moe Daniels) coincidently finds Simba and informs him that Scar is destroying the pride land, Simba must decide whether to ... ), leading the envious Scar to plot the death of Mufasa and Simba. When Mufasa is killed while trying to save Simba, Scar convinces Simba he must go ...
Once at Pride Rock, Timon and Pumbaa dress up as hula dancers to distract the hyennas so that Nala and Simba can sneak past. After seeing his mother being hit by Scar for criticizing him, Simba announces his arrival.
In response, Scar tells the pride that Simba was responsible for Mufasa’s death, and cornered Simba at the edge of Pride Rock. As Simba dangled over the edgear quietly but proudly toldhim that he had killed Mufasa. Enraged, Simba leaped over the edge and pinned Scar to the ground, forcing him to tell the pride who really killed Mufasa.
On top of Pride Rock, Simba cornered Scar. Trying to make Simba have mercy, Scar tried to blame everything on the hyennas. Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed overheard him. Simba told Scar to leave and never, ever come back. Pretending to leave, but instead leaped up on Simba for one final battle. Simba won, and kicked his uncle over a low cliff. Scar survived the fall, but found himself surrounded by now-resentful hyennas who attacked and killed him.
Simba and Nala became the new King and Queen of the Pride Lands.
The movie ends with everything becoming nice and green again and Rafiki presenting Simba and Nala’s newborn cub.
