Can one man alone affect the way a whole world thinks? Albert Einstein, Shakespeare, Julius Caesar, and others have all impacted the way many think. However, how vast and wide have their insights and knowledge spread? So, can one man alone affect the way a world thinks and works? The answer to this question can be answered with one person’s name, Jesus Christ. This one poor carpenter became the greatest teacher the world has ever known. His teachings have lasted for more than 2000 years and the messages have not weakened in time. The cause of his creation and the effect his creation has been by all accounts uncanny and immeasurable.
“And she will bring forth a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1: 21).
These are the words an angel, according to the Bible, spoke to Joseph about the son his wife would bear. The biblical message given to Joseph states a great deal about the cause of Jesus’ creation. His creation was simple; he was created and born of woman to save people, his people, from their sins. This message for his cause and purpose is further evident and confirmed when Jesus said himself, “I am the light and the way, all those who follow me shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 11: 25-26).
This statement by Christ displays that he was here to guide and save his people from death or the sins that would lead them to death. His cause, purpose, and mission was to show his people the way and the path to eternal life after death.

The social impacts of Jesus’ life and teachings have affected all of his people. Who exactly are his people? Many might argue that due to their faith in other religions they are not “his people.” However, as is stated many times throughout the gospels, all people are children of God whether they choose to follow him or not. Therefore, Jesus, who is proclaimed by the gospels to be God, made into man, his people are in actuality, all people. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a perfect example of impact Jesus has had on society. Martin Luther King absolutely refused to make his battle a physical one. He was determined to make his dream a reality. Despite all the negativity directed at him, much like Jesus, he fought back with moral righteousness. He was a man who lived his life through the example of Jesus Christ. Another effect of Jesus is the use of the Roman Catholic calendar. The Roman Catholic is the calendar used for business and international appointments around the world. The celebration of Christmas is now celebrated worldwide. Some celebrate it without much or any significance to Christ, but whether one celebrates it as a religious holiday or not the bottom line is their would be no Christmas without Jesus. The Bible is by far the world best selling and best known book. The Bible alone is the center of the world’s three largest religions. Easter, the celebration of Jesus’ life and crucifixion and resurrection are still celebrated today more than 2000 years after his death (Robison).
Jesus’ greatest effect is the way he has benefited and affected the personal belief system of more than 1 billion people in the world living right now, not to mention the innumerable people who have already died with the same beliefs, or in some cases for their beliefs. One out of every four people in the world today is a follower of the Christian religion. Christianity, founded by Jesus, is the dominant religion of Europe, both Americas, and Australia, with significant number of followers in Asia and Africa as well (The Volume Library 1929).
No one man alone has had the impact on our world and the world’s beliefs like Jesus Christ. Conversion is an example of Jesus’ impact on the personal beliefs and values of people. Through conversion bitterness becomes forgiveness’, anger becomes mercy, and worries become faith. Conversion and the affect it has on people shows the impact Jesus has when someone actually takes the path rather then just knows it. No one man has affected the beliefs and the way our world works like Jesus Christ has; that is an undeniable fact.

The cause and effect of Jesus’ life, teachings, and mission have impacted our lives more than any other historical or religious figure. There have been many great thinkers, teachers, scientists, religious leaders, and wise men. However, none of them or their followers can claim that their message has had a greater effect or lasted longer than that of Jesus Christ.
