Today, it appears that our personality is the thing which characterizes each human being and which is very important in the business world. Indeed, the personality is the sum total of ways in an individual reacts and interacts with others, measurable traits a person exhibits. With many new jobs which are created along the year, people want to get the perfect job according to their own personality. It’s in kind of the same thing for a manager or an employer who want to hire a person who has the best personality related to the company image or to a specific job. During this assignment I will firstly talk about what is the personality in general, how to determinate it and why it is so important in the business world; then I will talk about the perfect job for me according to my results in many personality tests.
The personality is individual, different for every person. The personality of a person can be identified by many concepts such as the environment or heredity. The environment and the heredity are the basis of the personality; the heredity is the genes you get from your parents, it’s in your DNA. The environment is where you grew up, where you live and also your social groups, such as your friends, school, and many others. In addition, it appears that the experience and some kind of situations can also determinate your personality, some tragic events can change your personality in different ways. However it’s not the only way to determinate the personality. Several measuring personality tests have been created, these tests are more and more used in the business sector and it appears that they are efficient and useful for the employers and/or for employees to determine the personality of a person or their own one. It can show to a person what would be its perfect job. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the most efficient personality test to help to characterize people. I did this test myself and the results were not wrong. The test showed me that I’m someone very extraverted, which is true because I’m a very sociable person who really enjoys talking to new people and always be with many people. It also showed me that I’m a thinking person, I don’t let my feelings act for me, I always prefer to think about the situation and act reasonably. To make a short conclusion about this, I think this personality test is a good way to have an overview of a person but this test is too “global”, there aren’t any specifics questions and not enough answers to really determinate the entire personality of a person. The BIG FIVE model is another tool to determine the personality of a person. This tool says that there are five factors which determinate our personality: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, and Openness to experience. I had the chance to do this test, and once again the results didn’t surprise me. Like the previous personality test, I’m someone extraverted and agreeable, with a high score in Openness to Experience, which is definitely true; I’m always looking for new experience such as travelling in other countries. It is the same thing for the Emotional Stability, I’m someone very calm, I always prefer thinking before acting.
Personally, I think this test was a little bit better than the previous one, for the simple reason that the questions were more specifics and the type of answers wasn’t the same than the previous test. Indeed, in the first personality test, MBTI, the kind of answers was only by “yes” or “no” which is not the better way to determinate the personality of someone. However, my results were exactly the same, so I have a better overview of my personality and what kind of jobs would be great for me. Theses tests are helpful but the best way to find the perfect job according to your personality is to do something you love, you shouldn’t only trust the results of the tests. We can now talk about why the personality is something so important today. The answer is simple, everyone want a job which suits the best to their personality. However it appears that now, the manager, or the employers are the main people using these kinds of tests. It’s a very good way to know if an employee has the correct characteristics for his job and if, maybe, it could be more efficient in another area.

Due to the results of these tests, I can say that I should work in an active domain with a lot of business relations such as a sales representative or as a manager of sales team. The sales area is, I guess, the best area which suits me; because you need to know how to talk to other people, to be someone agreeable, and to have a good emotional stability, mainly don’t show your emotions to your clients.
