Since becoming a Christian Genesis 1-11 has greatly impacted my worldview. My worldview of the natural world is that God created everything out of nothing. My human identity worldview is God made us in his image so our identity is in him. My worldview of human relationships are that we are not meant to be alone and how we can easily be lead away from God by other people. My civilization worldview is that as a civilization we can become evil and turn away from God breaking his heart. So Genesis has really taught me the proper worldview.
Everything was created by God, in the beginning God created the heavens and earth. (Genesis 1:1) For me this means to treat everything with the same love and respect that I give God, to not love and respect the creation is to not love and respect the creator. His creation is what proves he is real to me, all of the beauty on earth could not have happened any other way. The popular belief of an explosion creating earth is insane, the only thing I have seen an explosion cause is destruction. His creation shows me that he loves not only us but the earth also, he could have made it all look the same. He made it all beautiful, he is the greatest artist of all time.
My worldview of human identity is that we are made in his image and we were made to fellowship with him. So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them (Genesis 1:27).
To me this means that we are created to love out of love and we have free will because he has free will. He gave us all of him, I do not think it means we are made in his physical image. I also have the view that we are made to fellowship with him. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden (genesis 3:8).
Ever since the beginning of time our reality has been based on the conflict between good and evil. From the story of Adam and Eve to modern day and everything done by the human race has been a battle between these two. Many theologians and scholars have tried to argue the creation of evil. They question if God created it or if man and his perversion of the good created it. Or even if it goes back ...
This tells me that if they knew the sound of him walking that this was a regular occurrence. My view is that this was a daily thing for him to walk in the garden having fellowship with them. We fellowship with each other but will never be complete unless we fellowship with God.
Genesis has influenced my view of human relationships by showing me that we are not meant to be alone and how we can be influenced by other people. The Lord God said “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”(Genesis 2:18) This tells me that we should not go through life alone, we need someone of the opposite sex to share life with. It has shown me how a marriage should be. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh (genesis 2:23-24.) To become one flesh means that a man’s wife is his equal and that they should love and care for one another as they do for themselves. You have to put your wife above all others that is why we leave our mothers and fathers.
We can be influenced by others to go against God, so we have to be diligent to make sure we are paying attention to what the people close to us are doing in their lives. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it (genesis3:6).
The old joke is that see it’s all the woman’s fault, which is funny but not true. Adam allowed Eve to influence him to go against God, he was not paying attention to what was going on around him. To me he should have been the leader God called him to be and stopped her from eating it or at the least refused to eat it himself.
In civilization the more the population grew the more wicked man’s ways became, everyone influencing everyone else with evil. I believe that is why God changed our days on earth to 120 years. Then the Lord said, “My spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years” (genesis 6:3).
A Commentary on Man's Faith and his Guilt Archibald MacLeish raised many thought provoking questions in the play J. B... The Book of Job had already asked some of these questions, while others were very original and insightful. MacLeish offers many powerful thoughts on the relationship between man and God, some of which are disturbing to consider. Nickels lost his faith in both God and man. He ...
Man had become wicked and only thought of wicked things which is why we had the great flood. The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time (genesis 6:5).
Our wickedness as a civilization made God regret that he had made us; to me that means that we did and can be a slave to our flesh which is evil. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled (genesis 6:6).
He was going to wipe out everything he had made if it were not for one man Noah, he had found favor in the eyes of God. This is the first time that one man has saved the human race from being wiped out. Later Jesus saved us from a certain death and gave us eternal life.
These are my world views on the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization now that I am a Christian. The natural world was created by God out of nothing, his creation proves his existence to me. My view on human identity is that we were created in his image and made to fellowship with him. My view on human relationships is that we are not meant to be alone and to watch how we allow other people to influence us. My view on civilization is now I see how evil we can become if we are not in a relationship with God. These are my world views based on what I have learned from the book of Genesis, take the time to really read it and find out what yours are.
