“Young people seek help from only adults that they see as caring and nurturing” (Brendtro 29).
Not many people understand what bullying is. Some cannot even see when someone is being bullied. People may ask what is bullying. What types of bulling are there? Bullying can also include injuries and even deaths. There are many ways to prevent bullying. There are even some laws on bullying. The state or federal government should put laws into place to prevent bullying.
As young children start to go to school at a young age they are all taught that they should be nice and get along with each other. As children get older they can sometimes be mean to each other, this is known as bullying. Many people know what bullying is but some may ask “what is bullying?” “Bullying is basically a form of intimidation or domination toward someone who is perceived as being weaker. It is a way of getting what one wants through some sort of coercion or force. It is also a way for someone to establish some sort of perceived superiority over another person” (“Child Bullying” 1).
“Many parents are concerned that their child might be a victim of a child bullying. Some of the signs that a child is being bullied include: becoming withdrawn, showing fear when it is time to go to school, increasing signs of depression, decline in school performance, speaking of another child with fear, noticeable decline in how the child sees him or herself, signs of physical altercations, such as bruises, scrapes and other marks.” (“Child Bullying” 1) “It may be more difficult to spot signs of verbal or emotional bullying, but you should be on the lookout for indications that your child’s self esteem and self image are faltering, as well as a reluctance to go to school” (“Child Bullying” 1).
A huge problem seems to be taking over our schools these days. Bullying has become a major issue in our schools and should be a problem taken very seriously. Parents need to take action in putting a stop to their children harming others. Teachers also should be aware of what is going on in their schools and take immediate action before something terrible occurs. Bullying is when someone ...
It is hard to believe but bullying can start anywhere. Bullying could start at school, work, home, the park down the road, the next door neighbor, even the internet, anywhere. It is scary to think that bullying can happen anywhere. People often wonder why someone is being bullied. It could be anything from the way a person looks, something embarrassing they did, something a person said, many other reasons why someone is targeted as a victim.
Although it is sad to say that there are many types of bullying; verbal, physical, and cyber bullying are some. Verbal is when a person uses mean words like ugly, jerk, go die, or simply just someone saying something embarrassing about a person past. “In many cases, verbal bullying is the province of girls. Girls are more subtle (and can be more devastating), in general, than boys. Girls use verbal bullying, as well as social exclusion techniques, to dominate others and show their superiority and power. However, there are also many boys with subtlety enough to use verbal techniques for domination, and who are practiced in using words when they want to avoid the trouble that can come with physically bullying someone else.” (“verbal bullying” 1) “I remember two girls that were in my class room that would verbally abuse each other I sent them to the office multiple times” (Schlenker).
Verbal bullying can be hard for people to detect since there is no physical contact.
Parents should always keep track of what is going on in their child’s life. Verbal bullying can lead a child to being depressed, scared to go to school, hesitant about talking a certain person, or grades dropping in school. (Verbal bullying) Physical bulling is easier to detect a child could come home with bruises, or scrapes. “There are many types of negative physical interactions that can occur between young people, including fighting, practical jokes, stealing, and sexual harassment. These things are not considered physical bullying unless: The same victim is targeted repeatedly, the bully or bullies intend to hurt, embarrass, or intimidate the victim, the actions occur in a situation with a real or perceived imbalance of power, such as when the bully is stronger than the victim or has a higher social standing.” (“Physical bullying” 1) Physical bullying can also include hitting, pushing, spitting, slapping, tripping, throwing items at the victim, or stealing any belongings to a person. (“Physical bullying” 1) Bullying can happen over the internet also known as cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is when someone is harassed tormented, embarrassed, humiliated, or threatened over the internet.
Elementary schools for children have gained much attention especially in this 21st century. It is believe that the foundations laid at early childhood education have much influence on the whole learning process. It is at early stages that the intellectual development should be monitored, (Zhang, A. , Sayre J. W. , Vachon, L. 2009). The current trends in teaching growth patterns of children in the ...
According to Schlenker many people would cyber bully at school on the computers we would give to them some kids in school would cyber bully during class when they could be on the computers that were given to them. Cyber bullying cannot just only happened over the internet but over text messaging using a cell phone. Cyber bullying can only happen between two minors, if the people are adults it is known as cyber stalking.
Likewise it can be very difficult for a child to tell an adult or tell anyone that they are being bullied. Some ways that a child can prevent from being bullied are to tell a parent, a counselor, or call a help line. Children can often be hesitant of this because they do not want the person who is bullying them to bully them more. Some children are afraid of being called a tattle tale. According to “Prevent Bullying” With a carefully written and precise bullying definition in place, there is a need to follow up with appropriate and fair consequences when bullying occurs, whomever the perpetrator and victims are. Victims must know that they will get a fair hearing in order to be persuaded to come forward. Bullies must not be perceived as immune on account of longevity or position. Consequences need to be applied consistently in order for a policy to prevent bullying to be effective (1).
It is very important that a child who is trying to prevent themselves from being bullied knows that they are okay and safe after telling someone.
It may be hard to believe but there are actually not many laws on bullying which is very wrong. If bullying leads to someone killing themselves or hurting themselves someone should pay the consequences. According to “prevent bullying” As of September, 2009, most states have bullying laws. Bullying laws do not exist, however, in Alabama, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin (1).
Nowadays, because of the highly polluted and crowed urban areas, there are a lot of people decided to find some new places with fresh air to go for their weekends and vacation. One of the most ideal places for this is the forested area whereas the air is fresh and the landscape is beautiful, which fit the demand of people beautifully. However, there should be a law to prevent and limit the amount ...
These states that have passed bullying laws are made to improve school safety, improve the truancy rates, and reduce school violence. (“Find law” 1)
It is very sad to say that not every state has laws on bullying. Children will continue to bully until something serious is done about it. Everyday people continue to ask what is bullying, what types of bullying are there, are there any injuries or deaths, and what laws are there on bullying. They state or federal government should put laws into place to prevent bullying, in all states.
