Primarily, I will be analyzing the Club Eighteen to Thirties holiday brochure. I will be critical and analytical to the pictures and pages I choose and look in depth at how the brochure appeals to the younger public with different methods from the Leisurely Days brochure, which will be analyzed later on in the essay.
The cover of the Club Eighteen to Thirties holiday brochure is bright orange. This use of bright colors is especially eye catching and uses the orange to make their brochure stand out. The bright orange is also used because it is a lively, in your face color and creates a perception that the brochure is critically for young people, which is the audience the brochure is aimed at, which makes it effective. The actual brochure is thin and not as broad as the other brochures that I have seen. This makes it different to the others and gives it a unique quality and young people do generally want to be different and unique so this appeals to them. On the front cover the slogan ‘could you?’ with an arrow pointed to the inside is used. This is a rhetorical question and makes the reader ask… what the question means. Creating interest and is generally used to make the reader look inside. The last aspects on the front cover of the brochure are the pictures. The pictures show young, attractive people enjoying themselves. The pictures have a lot of sexual appeal and show single people flirting and having fun, also the pictures have both male and female people on them with the purpose of making both genders of readers want to view the brochure.
The Essay on Makes The Reader Man Poem Sassoon
This poem is about a 'normal', 'average' man who came to the trenches only 3 hours before, and then is killed as he is doing his job of piling sandbags along the parapet. Throughout this poem, Sassoon appeals to the emotions of the reader by trying to create an emotional attachment between the reader and the young man. He explains that 'He was a young man, with a meagre wife And two small children ...
I have chose two photos from inside the Eighteen to Thirty brochures, which I think epitomize the general purpose of the brochure. Firstly, I chose a picture of a young group of eight people on a banana boat. The picture shows them all being splashed by water, laughing, screaming and it is an exciting, fast image. The picture creates a stimulating upfront opening for the resort and shows how much fun the resort can be and is used to show the holidays appeal and the fun aspects that there are. I also think that this picture has secret meaning because each woman is sitting in front of a man and each pairs seem to be next to each other. This has sexual appeal and shows how couples and single people on the holidays are ‘slap happy and flirtatious’ while at the resorts, which is used to describe the atmosphere at the Costa Blanca resort. This makes the viewer want to go to the resort for a chance of love and confrontation with the opposite sex.
The second picture that I chose is a picture of two young girls pulling the towel away from a male with seemingly no clothes on. In the picture the male is muscular and the twp women have swim tops and bikinis on, which adds sexual appeal. The picture shows the two girls laughing which adds the fun aspect and the man seems to be having a good time to! This gives the flirtatious effect in the picture and the three people are generally good looking and the girls are thin and blonde and brunette showing that all kinds of single females go on the holidays. The other aspect in the picture is that the poolside looks empty but tranquil and sunny and there is only the three of them present, showing that you can have a good time however little your group is.
I will now be analyzing the “Leisurely Days” holiday brochure, the cover of the Leisurely Days brochure is very subtle, with only a few logos on the front, which makes it less upfront and direct. The cover has mellow, relaxed color tones, using light shades of green, blue and pink which makes the holidays seem relaxed and the brochure more attractive to older people. On the cover the use of language is formal and it has phrasing like ‘Premium Service’, this is used to make the brochure seem high class and to approach the reader by saying their holidays will treat you right, which older people want to be assured of. The picture on the front cover shows an elderly couple in an embracing laugh. This adds a romantic touch to the brochure and the elderly people seem to be enjoying themselves, which is a key factor in selling their brochure. The elderly people are not feeble or decrepit and are good looking, this shows that old people can feel young and are all young at heart and are basically not useless, which will essentially appeal to the older generation of holiday buyers and make them want to look in the brochure.
The Term Paper on Why Do People Make Mistakes?
People make errors all the time. Usually our errors are slight, like typos on the keyboard, and are easily correctable. Other times, our errors are a result of unwise practices, like tailgating on a slippery highway, and can be more consequential. Understanding why people make mistakes has been of scientific interest for many years and though scientists have been successful in developing theories ...
I again have chose two photos from this brochure that I think epitomises the general selling purpose of the Leisurely Day’s holidays. Primarily, I chose a picture of some elderly couples in formal eveningwear dancing in a hall. The couples all look happy and their clothes are modern and not typical holiday clothes. This heightens the class of the holidays and makes the activities at the holiday seem pleasurable while also showing how people of their age group still have life in them and make the holidays seem really glitzy and to be broad, it is as if the couples would be going on holiday to a grand ball where they could see Cinderella etc… this is used effectively here though because it adds a touch of romance to the picture and this is used to make the old people want to have romance while on their holidays. It also shows how couples can have a good time and this would really appeal to older people because in their pasts, dancing was the thing to do and many would feel like this would make them feel young again.
The second photo that I chose was a photo of two older first choice reps that are smiling to the reader. This shows to the reader that the holiday staff are friendly and trustworthy. The photo has older reps to shows that the reader’s are/would be in good hands, with people who have similarities and who are like themselves. The two older people have bright yellow tops to show that in their old age they are still lively and full of life. The background settings is trees and the picture shows a generally bright, colourful scene, showing readers that the holiday will be fun and enjoyable but that they will still be in safe hands while there. The photo also promotes couples and marriages on the holiday because the women and man look quite friendly and could very well be an older coupled pair of reps.
The Essay on People who make decisions based on emotion and justify those decisions with logic afterwards are poor decision makers
The debate of whether to follow emotions or logic is a complex one. As the given statement seems too strong in suggesting that all those who make decisions based on emotion are poor decision-makers, it may be warranted to discuss both the positive and negative role emotions and logic play in our decision making process. In certain cases, decisions based on emotion can result in undesirable ...
The Club Eighteen to Thirties brochure and the Leisurely Days holiday brochure are alike in the way that they want to sell holidays to the viewer of the brochure. However, the style and approach of the two brochures is totally difference. This is simply because the two brochures are aimed at two separate age groups, and aim to sell their holiday to different audiences specified by the holidays that are made for the certain area.
The Club Eighteen to Thirties holiday has a much more sharper quality to it and is much more forward in the way that they have put forward the holidays. The Leisurely Days is a more relaxed, formal brochure and this can be seen with the use of language, color tones and pictures used in the brochure compared to the eighteen to thirties brochure.
