Music is a spirit food that can not miss for everybody life. However, perhaps a very small number of us know clearly about true positive effects of music. They think simply that music helps them relax. But the fact is that there are many positive effects of music. I will show these in this essay. In my opinion, there are three remarkable positive effects of music on our everyday life that music heals diseases and makes us smarter.
The first positive effect of music on our everyday life is that music can heal. First, music is the effective therapy for pain. Music can help reduce both the sensation and distress of chronic pains. For example, according to a paper in the latest UK-based Journal of Advanced Nursing29, Listening to music can reduce chronic pain from a range of painful conditions, including osteoarthritis, disc problems and rheumatoid arthritis, by up to 21% and depression by up to 25%. Moreover, music helps reduce blood pressure. By listening recordings of relaxing music every morning and evening, people with high blood pressure can train themselves to lower their blood pressure – and keep it low31. For instance, according to research reported at the American Society of Hypertension meeting in New Orleans, listening to just 30 minutes of classical, Celtic or raga music every day may significantly reduce high blood pressure. Besides, music has many other good effects for medicine. In short, music is good for our health.

The second positive effect of music on our everyday life is that music makes us smarter. Music enhances intelligence, learning and IQ. Listening to music or playing an instrument can actually make you learn better. In fact, Music has the power to enhance some kinds of higher brain function such as reading and literacy skills, spatial-temporal reasoning and so on. Many recently researches confirm these. Furthermore, music improves memory performance. The power of music to affect memory is quite intriguing. Mozart’s music and baroque music, with a 60 beats per minute beat pattern, activates the left and right brain. The simultaneous left and right brain action maximizes learning and retention of information. The information being studied activates the left brain while the music activates the right brain. Therefore, there are many people simultaneously listening to music and committing their lessons to memory, and they can memorize them very fast. In brief, music helps us more intelligent.
In conclusion, healing disease and making us smarter are the two main positive effects of music on our everyday life. So why do we listen to music more? I think that we should listen to everyday because beside relaxation we have other useful things in order to have a life better and happier.
