In this day and age there are a variety of different campaigns that have been put on air to try and get massages across to the nation about their health. These campaigns range from stop smoking, sex education and health education as a whole. The NHS has recently broadcasted a sex education campaign that aims to promote awareness of the different contraception that are available to them in and around their area. Some advertisements can be deemed as effective and other people would argue that they are not as effective as they should be.
I will be evaluating the effectiveness of the “Contraception. Worth talking about” ad using two different models of behaviour change. http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=AGZ33Bu1Y7s The ‘Theory of reasoned action’ is one of the many models of behaviour change. The model related to the attitudes and behaviours of a person which is formed from the individuals influence from their social environment. If the person believes that the adoption of behaviour will have a positive change of result they will then have a positive attitude towards it.
For example if a young woman wanted to go to the clinic for a sexual health check up this is them showing a positive attitude to this but because of social stigma around going to the clinic because it makes you look “slutty”, that young woman would then have a negative attitude because of the believes expressed by society. The advert, “Contraception. Worth talking about” is related to sexual health and the importance of contraception, many people in society may have a negative outlook on the advert because they may feel that it is influencing people to have more unprotected or safe sex.
The Essay on American Democracy Positive Campaigns
The American democracy is one of the most peaceful kinds of government in the world although it is a long way from utopia. The democracy in which we live has many strengths and weaknesses. Neither strengths or weaknesses out weigh one another, but it is necessary to have both due to the varying definitions. A democracy is a government that is run by the people. The politicians that we elect to run ...
The advert itself is reflects ‘peer education’ as the voices are those of the younger generation. This can be a positive as it shows not all young adults follow the social stigma around sexual health and therefore it promotes the importance of being able to feel free to discuss amongst our own generation to help each learn about the different ways we could help ourselves and look after our bodies. There are other social factors that can hinder service providers from doing the best they can to provide the service people need in sexual health education.
Such things as finance can have a major social impact. Due to the recent changes in our economy recession has made a lot of service have a tighter budget meaning that sexual health education is effected. Family income also has an effect on the way people can gain access to services such as clinics to be able to have the sexual health check ups they need to be able to protect themselves in the way they should. Social class can have an effect on the ways in which people receive treatments and education in health.
Those of a higher social standard can have access to better resources due to their backgrounds and the areas in which they are raised. For example, people living in West Minister are more likely to have better quality of service in terms of treatments available and better access to services in comparison to people liking in Barking. http://www. patient. co. uk/doctor/Health-and-Social-Class. htm Therefore there are a number of different social contexts that can have an impact on health. Social Marketing is a model that encourages behavioural change in people.

Helping them to focus more on individual communication techniques rather than as a community. It’s about looking at the persons positive and negative behaviour. This particular model supports the sexual health campaign “Contraception. Worth talking about” as the advert is encouraging young adults to talk more about the choices that are available to them in terms of contraception’s. The ad is trying to break down the idea that society as a whole controls the way we behave towards certain topics but leaves room for our individual thoughts on the subject, as to whether we adopt this change.
The Social Marketing systematic technique and concepts is to achieve specific behavioural goals with the aim of improving health and reducing health inequalities such as the financial, education and social implications. Health education campaigns are about the NHS and other health professionals and services doing their best to try and save as many lives as they can through the use of messages and schemes to catch the attention of millions.
It’s also about trying to help people make healthier choices such as using condoms to prevent unwanted pregnancies, STI’S and STD’s. To be able to make changes in peoples sexual health campaigns must be very strong in terms of messages that are being put across, targeting to the right audience, realistic and knowledgeable in all ways to ensure that people get the best out of the concept behind the ad. Health educators must try to challenge the different social contexts that hinder people from receiving the best quality from a service.
By the service doing so they will be able to overcome the obstacle that has been for years. Health educators must find a way to overcome income issues that some households are feeling as it can effect they way in which they access or do not access services, get the right materials and resources that can improve their health e. g. condoms and HIV rates. By doing these little things in and around urban areas can improve health dramatically over time. Level 3 Health and Social Care Text Book
