Thesis: To me, love is an emotional, physical, and spiritual attraction that makes a person feel secure with who they are. All my life, I have been told that love and marriage is something that will come with time. My parents have a marriage where they hate each other, and my mom does not want me to be in the same situation, so she has told me time and time again to wait to fall in love and get married. Apparently I dont listen very well, because I have fallen in love. This was not something I was looking for I just stepped into it. Before all of that happened, though, I used to think about what love meant to me.
Now, with my boyfriends help, I have learned what love means to me. To me, love is an emotional, physical, and spiritual attraction that makes you feel secure with whom you are. Love is an emotional feeling, because every emotion you have gets put into the relationship. Before you fall in love, life just happens, and the only person it affects is you. You cry along, you laugh alone. When you fall in love, you have someone to cry with you, someone to laugh with you. You know that no matter what is going on around you, youll have someone there to share your most intimate moments.
An example of this is when my grandmother died this summer, I could share my saddest feelings with my boyfriend, and emotions I wouldnt have felt comfortable sharing with anyone else I knew. I felt a full range of emotions during that time, and I could share them with him openly. He was there for me during my darkest hour, and he is also there during the happy times in my life. This is what I think emotional love is. physical love varies from emotional love in the sense that physical love is about touching another person. Physical love is the need we have just to be held when we are upset, and a smile when we are happy.

In the novel, Love in the Time of Cholera written by Gabriel García Márquez, there are many symbols to represent, literally, love in the time of cholera. These symbols are flowers, birds, and rain. It is more of a visible love than emotional love and spiritual love. Physical love is our need to always have contact with the other person. Its as simple as holding hands while walking down the street or as complex as sex. It all depends on how far you want to go with it. Physical love, for me, is holding my boyfriends hand in a movie theatre and never wanting to let go, or a quick kiss on the lips before we continue on with our crazy lives. Whatever physical love is to you, you need to find out and never go father then your body tells you.
You are not in love if no isnt good enough for him. Spiritual love is being connected by mind and soul. Its looking into your loves eyes and knowing exactly what they are thinking and what they need. Spiritual love is also a feeling that no matter how far apart you are, you both know that you are there for each other. My boyfriend and I are currently living two hundred miles apart from each other, but we always seem to know when the other is upset and try to make it better through words, when we just cant be here to hold each other. Its seems that whenever something happened during the day, he calls at just the right time and always manages to be able to cheer me up.
One time, after I had gotten a bad test back, I went back to my apartment, and almost as soon as I arrived, my boyfriend called and said he felt that something was wrong. We talked about it, and I felt a lot better. He has helped me through a lot of dark days. Emotional, spiritual, and physical are just some aspects of love. There are many other ones such as trust, honesty, communication, and sense of humor. Love comes from within and makes everything seem so much brighter. Love does not necessarily come easily for everyone, but eventually one day, most people will look around and see the world differently, and then they will realize they are truly in love.

Song This poem by John Donne is about a relationship with him and his lover. In this relationship he has to leave even though he does not want to.
