As a fellow Roman, a professional soldier, and a public official, I am here today once again seeking each and every one of my loyal followers encouragement and hoping to gain any non-supporters approval. As many of you may know, my name is Marc Antony and I, am asking for your vote. Why am I running for King, you may ask? Quite simply, I feel that Rome is in need of fresh ideas and a new brand of leadership.
For years I have watched from the sidelines as Rome’s own officials became corrupt by the power that’s been so easily within their grasp. Please do not misunderstand me. These persons who are corrupted by the process of ruling over their fellow men are not innately evil. They began as honest men. Their motives for wanting to direct the actions of others may be purely patriotic and humane. Indeed, they may wish only “to do good for the people.” Apparently, the only way they can put into action this supposed “good” is to impose violence upon praiseworthy men.
Brutus ignorantly explains to the citizens that is necessary to kill their current leader so that Rome could remain free, with no king. The people are so impressed, they elect Brutus to be king (III. ii. 50-60).
Elect me as your leader, and there is no question that I will stay true to Rome and do everything in my own power to live up to my promise to lead as a representative of the people.
I have shown that no hardship can decrease my determination to lead a better Rome, an example being the brutal slaying of my admirable friend, Julius Caesar (III.i. 80-85).

Brutus and Cassius are no doubt honorable men, but they undermined my loyalty towards not only Caesar but my fellow Romans when they blindly entrusted me with his final farewell speech. Strength and courage run through my veins and are shown throughout my actions. My voice may not appeal to you as Brutus’ or Cassius’, but my actions remain for the good of Rome. While Brutus and Cassius were easily manipulated into thinking I remained their friend, the responsibility of saving Rome fell into my hands (III.i.200-210).
Without delay I stepped into the leadership role and unwaveringly went to battle.
I have passionately demonstrated my abilities to capture your undivided attention when speaking of my beloved Caesar. Standing before you all, I speak to you not as a King, but as an equal. I do not refer to my great ancestors as a justification to be considered a leader, but as a former standard that I need to exceed. At home, I remain none other than your common citizen hopeful to live up to my reputation as a consummate politician and to make changes for the good of Rome.
