A series of experiments were conducted and found that several negative moods are responsible for decreasing the Fundamental Attribution Error, and positive moods are known to increase the FAE as it is influenced by the information processing consequences of the affective states. The initial experiment showed how happy mood was able to enhance and the sad mood reduce the dispositional attributions, wherein the basis are the coerced essays which advocates the unpopular opinions
The researchers in this study were exploring on the mood induced processing and how it will be able to affect the attribution of internal or external causes, as well as the commission of Fundamental Attribution Error. Researchers would like to relate how cognitive mechanisms are responsible for producing the FAE. The Independent Variables for this research are the moods being analysed, namely Happy and Sad. The Dependent variable would be the evaluation of the subjects, which results to the popularity, so it is popular or unpopular.
The participants in these experiments were students. For the first experiment, there were 96 participants, wherein 48 are female and 48 are males. For the second experiment, the participants were from the public, 120 people wherein 60 are males and 60 are females who were immediately approached before they saw certain happy or sad films. The third experiment was conducted to test the validity of the first and the second experiment.
The Essay on Operant Conditioning Experiment
I chose to involve the 1-year and a couple of months old son of my good friend and neighbor (named Judith) for my Operant Conditioning Experiment. Shawn, as we fondly call the toddler, happens to be extraordinarily shy. He would rather stay around the presence of his mom or dad than enjoy playing with other kids. He shuns most, if not all occasions of interaction with other fellows. I, for my ...
The hypothesis on this study is that people are more likely to focus on th most conspicuous and captivating information category, the actor, in calculating inferences and subsequently fail to discount this information in the light of less salient situational constraints that require additional resources to process. We could expect that the kind of processing style produced by good moods would be based on salient and readily available information about situational constraints more likely to be ignored.
The research was introduced to the participating students/people as two unrelated studies, including a verbal abilities test and a study in social perception. Some participants were made to read brief essays and complete a brief questionnaire regarding a brief survey. The memories of participants were also assessed regarding their good and bad mood. The results showed that participants who are in the positive condition would most likely rate their mood as significantly better than those who received negative feedbacks.
Affective State Mediates Causal Attributions for Success and Failure In this study, the researchers tested for the influence of affect on causal attributions for success and failure. They are trying to find out about what mood is induced in subjects when they learned that they were either successful or have failed in an aptitude test they have previously taken. The moods that they were expecting to come up with are positive, neutral, or negative moods. The Independent variable in this experiment would be the result in the aptitude test, whether the participant has passed or has failed.
The Dependent variable would be their moods upon knowing the results of their aptitude tests, whether it is positive, neutral or negative moods. The participants were a total of 115 male and female students of introductory psychology students who received extra credit for volunteering to participate in the study. The hypothesis of the study is that an individual’s mood or temporary affective state might have an impact on causal attributions in one of two ways, including suggestion that individuals might show mood congruency.
The Report on Positive & Negative Effects of Tourism
Positive & Negative Effects of Tourism Due to the size, strength and impact of the tourism industry on local economies worldwide, the debate over the positive and negative effects of tourism is little more than a mental exercise. But to develop sustainable tourism policies, a thoughtful consideration of these effects is necessary. 1. Economic Effects o Tourism's primary benefit is the profit ...
The experiment was conducted by informing the participants that they would be participating in two unrelated experiments. They were to complete a 10-minute test and would be later evaluated on their accuracy in the test. The next part is said to be unrelated, which is about assuming the perspective of the main character in a movie and their subsequent memory about events. The results showed that the mood and outcome inductions were quite effective.
Those who are in positive mood conditions found themselves more happy and uplifted than those who are in the neutral mood conditions and the negative mood conditions. Effects of mood states on information processing strategies: Two studies of automatic and controlled processing using misattribution paradigms The researchers on this study conducted two experiments in order to find out which moods control automatic processing and controlled processing in a person.
They are trying to find out whether a positive mood facilitates automatic processing and a negative mood facilitates controlled processing. The Independent variable on this study is the mood states of a person, whether it is positive mood or negative mood. The Dependent variable would be the automatic and the controlled processing that would result from the mood states of a person. The participants of the study are ninety-nine female university students. The researchers hypothesize that a positive mood facilitates automatic processing and a negative mood facilitates controlled processing.
Here, it would be dependent on the mood of the participants whether they would come up with automatic or controlled processing. There were two experiments involved in this study. In experiment 1, after inducing the positive or negative mood reaction, the participants were asked to rate the attractiveness of products while being exposed to factors like listening to a tape that they are going to have the effect of inducing a positive, negative, or neutral mood. In experiment 2, the participants were shown the list of names of companies in Japan once or four times.
The Essay on Opium War China Positive Negative
The Opium War was a war fought by two countries Great Britain and china in 1839. The war was fought over the drug opium which was used by the Chinese for hundreds of year to relieve pain. opium is a habit forming narcotic made from the poppy plant. In the late 1700's the British was smuggling the drug into China for non-medical use. The navies of the two countries mostly fought the battles of the ...
After one or two days later they were then presented with the list of these names along with new names and were asked to pinpoint which are famous or non-famous. False fame came from those who experienced negative mood. The results showed that the people who are experiencing a positive mood are more likely to engage in automatic processing. The first article about the fundamental attribution error showed that negative and positive moods really affect the performance of the fundamental attribution error.
This can be seen as something similar with that of the Success and Failure of a sports team. Because of this some people were finding it difficult on becoming successful with this option. There are many matters that needed immediate attention when we talk about fundamental attribution error. People rely on various functions which is not actually practical to tolerate, as well as easier to understand. The response of these teams are equally enthusiastic, but who will have to raise up their couurage in order to go fight which I could have easily won.
