R, 2, 6, 0. College Comparison You can compare college experience to anything else such has a fish in a huge ocean. Collegethis word may sound like a dream or a nightmare to people across the country. The notion of freedom, decision-making, keg-partying, job-finding attracts many students to pursue college. Even international students come to the USA to experience college and university life, and the US culture to the fullest. Yet hardly many people questioned all the negatives and dangers that the college life might entail and all the possible influences the students can become a part of.
In the following essay I am going to unveil some of the real-life college wilderness which is usually represented by a college or university fraternity. I will present various findings together with my personal opinion on the given matter. Fraternitythis greek society is the indispensable part of the US higher educational system. Fraternity if compared to a regular dorm or hostel at the university appears just like the wilderness to a regular zoo. The students in dorms certainly resemble the humble animals at the zoo, who obey the zoo rules, are afraid of the Residence Advisors (supervisors at the zoo) yet who stay there simply because they are fed, and have a roof above their head. In the fraternity a typical student is free.
The Term Paper on Stress In College Students
College students all stress out about one situation/life generality or another. Some of these situations/life generalities are individuation, computer anxiety, ethnic and gender roles in student-athletes, and mathematics anxiety. There have been many studies looking at stress in college students. At one time or another, college students are forced to deal with a stressful situation. Stress, in ...
Yes, the notion of freedom can be argued upon, because oftentimes the frat brother does not have a choice but to party all weekend non-stop. Yet fraternity is something that lures people and shows them the way. If a regular person living on campus resembles a single fish in an animated ocean who moves routinely on her/his own to and from classes, to and from cafeteria, to and from the dorm, the fraternity society resembles a united family of sharks or piranhas who live together as long as they like it but are able to attack each other and swallow each other should the moment present itself. A typical fraternity brother is self-confident. Yes, unlike the regular student who hardly has any friends, the frat brother is a king of the hill. He knows that his greek letters are the pass to virtually any place to campus.
He knows that girls adore coming to the frat parties. His experience tells him that girls like the risk of being seduced, smoked up, filled with alcohol and masculine juices that accompany any fraternity party. The mating of the praying mantis resembles the parties at the frat house. At first, everybody is invited and offered a drink. At this point of time the frat brother look for potential female to copulate with. Just like the praying mantis which is afraid of the female claws during the mating season, the fraternity brother is afraid of police, court, and words like sexual harassment and rape. And just like a praying mantis, a frat brother gently approaches a female, pleases her with compliments and while keeping the distance constantly offers intoxicants (alcohol and weed) to dull her senses and the ability to strike him. At some point of time a frat brother understands that a female is ready and he starts the sexual advances.
He, just like a praying mantis does not think about the consequences at this point of time and wants only one thing: satisfy the bodily needs. If tomorrow, he is accused of sexual harassment or rape, he does not care all he wants to do is to realize his basic instinct with a female he just met at the frat party. Usually, one chooses places like basement, bathroom or ones own room, whichever is unoccupied by the competing mantis couples. The girls love it: the presence of suspense, ability to be interrupted by some other couple who just walked in, drives many people crazy and mad. The presence of alcohol, cannabis, and other drugs in blood makes the two bodies rather exhausted after the intercourse and after the mating is done, the couple usually falls asleep forgetting about what happened in a wilderness surrounded by the bottles, bongs, or other sleeping people. And just like in a praying mantis or a spider situation, if a male wakes up earlier and leaves, he is given more chances of not being stabbed by the females legally or verbally than if he were to stay with her till her wake up.
The Term Paper on Androgyny And The Will Of Shakespeares Female Characters A Feminist Perspective
Throughout Mans history, women have always been at a disadvantage socially, economically, and politically. Shakespeare realized this and sought to bring the controversy that comes with Androgynous issuesto life. Through strong female characters and the implications of disguises, Shakespeare exposes gender issues. Many critics believe Shakespeare poorly represents women in his plays through ...
In conclusion, it should be said that fraternity, indeed appears to be like a wilderness in an organized place called university or college. The students who usually live by the rules and commands from the professors and residence advisors come to the wilderness to get crazy and high. And as it had been previously said, many females pay this price of freedom and joy, yet still strive to be a part of this place which certainly differs from the dull social routine a typical college presents for the students..
