As a class prefect, most of my classmates liked coming to me during such times. I was always among the top three bright students in my class. I had formed study groups in the class whereby we could meet at our free time and discuss all the subjects. Not all the students liked our idea. They thought it was a waste of time and so they opted out.
One week to the exams, I started seeing suspicious looks among other students in my class. They were unusually restless and anxious. Some would talk in lower tones when I came come closer to them. I decided to get to the bottom of the matter. I asked one of them what was going on but she refused to tell me. Tension was beginning to build up in the class.
As a class prefect I was concerned. I threatened to report them if they didnt disclose the matter. One of them explained that they had found printed exam papers for our end of term exams. They pleaded with me to join them in discussing the questions. I refused because I believed I had enough confidence of passing with or without discussing the questions. My refusal was not taken lightly but I stood on my grounds. The week lapsed and it was time for exams.
The first paper was Literature. Some of the questions were similar to what the students had already discussed. But in the next paper arithmetic not a single question marched what the students had prepared for. Exam leakage was suspected by the teachers immediately after marking the Literature papers. We were all summoned by the head teacher who after interrogating us found out that I was innocent. Most of the other students were suspended from school. And since then I was regarded as the most disciplined student in the school.
