“Ask not what your country can do for you but what your country can do for you” announced John F. Kennedy for his inauguration speach. J. F.
K. was one of our greatest presidents because of all the heroic, brave, and helpful things that he has done for the United States. Kennedy was born in Brooklin, Massachusetts May, 29 1917. He grew up in a very religious family. In 1925 Kennedy got into harvard. Four years later he graduated with honors.
Years later he joined the Navy. Two years later he was discharged. A while after he was discharged he started up politics. Kennedy ran for vice president in 1956 and lost bye a few votes. A few years later he gathered up a stronger and more organized campaign and ran for president. He won by a few votes.
His inauguration speach was one of many of his historical s peaches. Not long after he was elected he got into his first conflict; The Bay of Pigs Invation. This was a movement to diminish all communism in Cuba. The U. S. was getting a beating so Kennedy called a retreat.
After the retreat Fidel Castro reported that he had 1, 200 soldiers captured. So Kennedy worked out a deal with Castro and the deal was to trade 53 million dollars in food and drugs for the 1, 200 prisoners. The next conflict was The Cuban Missile Crisis which took started on October 22, 1962. The U. S. discovered these missile site by routine reconnaissance flights.
The assassination of a president is something that the United States has had to face only four times in its history. Two of these senseless killings are the ones most embedded in American's memories and history. The first one, the assassination of Lincoln, occurred in a time when the United States was embroiled in a tumultuous disagreement on the issue of slavery. The other assassination and the ...
After the U. S. researched them they found out they were owned by the Soviet Union. The reason the soviet union was building these sites is because they wanted to become powerful and take over the world and if they took care of America for Cuba, Cuba would be in the Soviet Unions control along with America.
The Military suggested a sneak attack but Kennedy turned it down because that was how he lost in The Bay of Pigs Invation. So he ordered a navel blockade on October 22, 1962. He demanded withdraw of all the missile sites. Six days later, October 28, 1962, the crisis ended due to the stress put on Cuba and the Soviet Union.
Later, the Soviet Union and the U. S. signed a treaty that bans any nuclear weapon testing on each. J. F.
K. started the civil rights legislation in 1962 and 1963 when racial tension picked up. The legislation prohibited discrimination in employment and established The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. It also banned discrimination in public accomodations. The Alliance for progress was a billion dollar program made to diminish anti Americanism in the Western hemisphere, mostly Latin America.
It ended due to lack of funds. He did succeed in education, health, housing, and growth of economics. In 1963 he sent 16, 000 troops over to Vietnam help stop communism. In his last year of office he was planning for a new campaign and started making public appearances. On November 22, 1963 J.
F. K. was campaigning through Dallas, Texas in a motor-cade when he was shot in the head. He died within a hour. He died as our 35 th president at the age of 46. Since Kennedy was ass assigned, the new president, Johnson, was to investigate the assassignation.
He concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted along in the assassignation of J. F. K. No motive was accomplished because Oswald was killed before he was in custody. Lee Harvey Oswald served in the Marines before he committed the murder. He was later killed by a night club owner, Jack Ruby, that recognized who he was and what he did.
Some people say that Kennedy was the best president we have ever had and some people think that he was the worst. But people should look up to him as a hero because of all the great things he has done for our country and not just our country but many others also. He was probly one of the most patriotic persons ever. Bibliography Grolier’s.
Cuban Missile Crisis When given the opportunity to write a research paper on any conflict or battle during recent American History, one has a number of options: World War Two, the War in Vietnam, and the Korean conflict to name but a few. However, I have chosen a brief period of two weeks during which the very existence of the United States was seriously threatened. To most of my generation the ...
