Appeal to common belief, technology advance has made life easier and plays a significant role in almost all fields of human life. The tremendous benefits of technology are very inspiring indeed. However, the dark sides of technology should be also concerned. One of the most critical consequences was the health of human being critically devastated. People around the world had become increasingly glued to electronic gadgets. Moreover, reporting of health issues relevant to overuse of the gadget were increasing annually. We will next look into the health problems that technology addiction had caused and the possible solutions to halt this issue from aggravating.
The evolution in digital technology over the past decades had made computer a sophisticated and powerful entertainment medium. It was a common scenario that during idle or reunions meet up, smartphones or tablets are tip tapped in the people’s hands. This had caused the lack of interaction between the people and subsequently resulted in antisocial behavior. In fact, outdoor activities were gradually replaced by the televisions programs and computers that eventually resulted in self-isolation. Hence, parents or elders play a vital role in alleviating this issue. Outdoor activities such as trips and picnics should be periodically organized. In short, by choosing outdoor activities such as healthy physical activity over technology, would encourage human interaction.

Besides, the dependency on technologies comes from tasks and jobs, be it in a workplace or educational institutions. Sitting or maintaining a certain posture for a period of time while using the computers would also result in Computer Vision Syndrome and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. People with Computer Vision Syndrome would suffer from blurred version and eye irritation while Carpal Tunnel Syndrome often resulted in palm’s slight muscle cramp due to extensive typing. These diseases can be avoided by simply taking adequate rests. For instance, giving your eyes regular breaks, have a walk and stretches at frequent intervals. In short, giving yourselves adequate breaks would help in not only avoiding the syndromes but also refreshing your minds.
On the other hand, obesity was also another critical health problem caused by technology addiction. An article has stated that during the past decade, the statistic of obese and overweight had rapidly risen. (Cespedes A., 2013) Excessive usage and exposure to electronic gadgets that resulted in bad eating habits and lack of exercises were the main reason of causing obesity. This bad habit has to be taken immediate action as it would further lead to diseases such as cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and so on. Hence, parents and ourselves should be self-organized, regulating healthy eating habits and having regular exercises. Be it just cycling or having a walk, getting at least an hour of moderate exercise a day would lessen our dependency on technology.
Undeniably, we are all embraced with the functionality and convenience of technology. However, we should bare it in mind that the technology or electronic gadgets are made for us, but not in the other way round. Prevention is always better than cure, we should all be aware of the adverse impact brought by the prolonged exposure to these gadgets. Technology is to make our lives better, not to worsen them.
