“The production of too many useful things results in too many useless people “ – Karl Marx I’ve always imagined how this world would be like if everyone in earth, especially teenagers, is continuously using and depending on the technology in everyday life. As we know, the production of gadgets like Smartphones, Ipad, Ipod are gradually increasing year by year and the usage of the Internet is getting easier as we have the Wi-Fi Connection in almost any area.
This could probably result into people having the lack of social communication and thinking skill in life. Even though it is said that the Internet as a technology wonder, I dare say that the Internet use has a negative influence on the individual. Technology separates individuals from reality. I’ve experienced this situation before and it happened in a restaurant few days back. While I was eating dinner with my friends, I’ve noticed a family consist of five people were eating next to our table.
They had three children between the age of 10-16 I guess, and I realized that each and every one of them is holding their hand phones on their hands, fingers tapping almost every second on the screen of their phones and not even a single word came out from them leaving their parents talking to each other. So you see? Where is the sense of respect that’s left for the teenagers today to their parents? It’s just awful to see this scene in front of my eyes. Technology disconnects people from the real world.
When the communication skills are decreasing, people will tend to spend less time chatting with the family members, going through more daily stress and feeling lonelier. Not forgetting gadgets like Nintendo DS, PSP,PS3 which mostly are gadgets for playing games, are turning little kids into little monsters as they insisted their parents to buy it for them. I even have a cousin the age of 3 years old holding the PSP with his cute little hands playing games and ignoring everyone around him. I bet he even thinks that I’m a stranger to him and not one of his family members as he looked at me with a blank face.
The Essay on The daily life of teenagers today and that of young people 100 years ago
Abstract Developments in the world throughout the years have greatly impacted the world in various ways. These developments include technological and socio-political changes. These changes have made social activities today to become incomparable with those from a hundred years ago. In this case teenagers as a social group have fell victim to these changes as. This fact easily unveils itself when ...
He even gets mad if he doesn’t have his PSP with him and he’ll cry out loud till he gets what he wants. With the technology we’re having today, kids learned that whenever they want to have fun and enjoyment, they will get it in an instance and having patience is not in the dictionary of their lives today. These days, people could easily get any news and information just by the tip of their fingers. If you need to search anything you just need to browse it on the net. Go to Google or Yahoo and type in anything that you wanted to know.
It’s good at some point but at the same time it’s also bad in the sense that people would be lazier to think. Since everything is much easier to get nowadays, it’ll make people think less and accept what so ever it is in the net that they have found. Imagine, you’ve been spoon fed by all the info in the Internet, so what’s left there for you to think right? Well wrong. I find that the Internet hinder most what I wanted to express and what I wanted to think because the Internet is not only being use by us but others as well.
There are lots of opinions and comments and as well as non-reliable sources on the Internet. People especially students that depends most on the internet will tend to plagiarize what they’ve found. To be honest, I’ve experienced this problem before when I was still young and immature to think what the effects would be. Those days, I tend to take opinion and ideas from the internet and copied it without changing anything. I just couldn’t resist from not taking it and it’s bothering me as well. I’m kind of stuck with what the technology provides me, which is information.
Not just few but countless information. This is the main effect of technology to the world these days. Making people being too lazy to think and they’ve found the easiest way to solve their problem, that is by letting the Internet do all the searching and thinking. What I’m trying to say here is that, people should realize the importance of the real communication and that is to communicate with others directly face to face and also to create loving bonds with each other especially with our family members.
