The aim of the paper is to persuade the reader that US schools do need fixing of numerous faults which exist in the American educational system at present. The main conclusion is that despite the advanced character of the American education it is not perfect and the faults which will be described in this work need closer attention and feedback. Outline Introduction The faults of the educational system to be noted are as follows: The difference of curriculums even in the schools which can be situated not far from each other. The system of the NAEP tests with the striving of separate states to amend the basic tests makes the whole system of education decentralized. Absence of graduation tests makes the process of education less controlled and the level of education lower. The level of knowledge among American teachers should be reconsidered. Conclusion Public education Introduction US are one of the fewer countries, where federal authorities dont relatively impact school curriculums and the process of education in general. This may be considered to be one of the faults.
The constitution of the country does not have any mention of education at all. Federal legislation put the ban on the American government to change and influence school curriculums. The public polls, which are performed in the US on the regular basis, show that Americans themselves suppose the problem of education to be one of the most serious. Meanwhile, the US is known for spending huge amounts of finances for education ($511 billion for schools in 2003-2004).
The Essay on The Fight Theory And The American Legal System
The aim of the legal profession is to seek out the truth and provide justice for those who were wronged. Lawyers represent clients who are on opposite sides of the case, and who most often have opposite views of the truth. In the legal system there exist two opposing views on the method of uncovering the truth. Many people do not think that these two systems can coincide and believe that they ...
(Freed, 2005) The activity of public schools is regulated by the number of laws and acts, and one of the principal faults, which also exist in the system of the American school education is that the curriculums in the two different schools which may be situated at the distance of several miles from each other the curriculums are absolutely different. This is why in the choice of the school parents not only think of the better location of the school, but have to pay attention to the curriculum, which is absolutely inconvenient. Though it is generally accepted, that such flexible system of education allows children to receive broad range of knowledge in relation to different subjects, but it should be understood, that first of all, there should exist a basic set of subjects which each school should teach, and thus parents will pay more attention to the location of the school which ultimately works for the safety of children.
(Lagemann, 1999) For the evaluation of the pupils knowledge the system of national tests called NAEP is used. Such tests pass the pupils of all levels of education, and they are aimed at the evaluation of the basic knowledge in various subjects. However, certain States have used to develop their own tests, which also decentralize the system of education in general and make it less controlled. Only 24 states out of 50 at present make it obligatory for the graduate pupils to pass exams. This is one more fault to be fixed by the system of the US education, because graduation tests (exams) are the means of not only controlling the level of knowledge among young people before they enter higher educational institutions, but also create additional stimuli for those pupils in their studies. However, it should be admitted that the number of States which implement the use of the graduation tests grows with each year, and according to the data of the Center for Education Policy, many graduate pupils are unable to pass graduation tests (exams).

Only 30% of pupils are able to pass the math test from the first attempt; the English test is passed by only 40% of pupils from the first time. (Freed, 2005) The level of the knowledge among American teachers should be also re-considered at the state level. It is also a fault of the American educational system and thus should be fixed. The National Academy of Sciences in 2004 came to the conclusion that the scientific and technological leadership of USA is under threat; American teachers of mathematics are less educated than their colleagues in Europe; as a result, the knowledge given to the American pupils on math and related subjects are much less and lower in quality than the knowledge which the pupils of the same age in other industrial countries possess. (Freed, 2005) Conclusion Though the American system of education has for long been known for its flexibility, freedom of choice, this flexibility and freedom has ultimately resulted in less control on the side of government. Education in schools is one of the strategic tasks of any state, especially it concerns the leading country like USA.
This is why the US should pay much attention to the faults which exist in the system of its school education at present and to fix these faults with the account of the international standards and the desire to deliver better knowledge to the children, who are the future of the country.
