So it was only fitting that my father and grandfather was the one who made me the see the world in a different way. They taught me to treat everyone with respect no matter what race or religion. I have always learned from them not to treat people differently because of the race or religion either. He has taught me to be proud of who I am and my heritage. Since my father and grandfather were in the Air Force and Army they taught me to support what soldiers at war even if you’re for or against the war he showed me that you should care for the men and woman fighting for our freedom.
All of these examples are the ways my father and grandfather have helped me see the world differently. moral code can come from many various things throughout some one’s life. It could come from family, sports, school, or yourself. Lewis feels that conscience plays a major role in some one’s moral code and I would have to agree with this statement. He says that a human being needs to live with all his decisions based on his or her conscience. There is a universal moral code that carries over to all cultures. This includes being truthful and honest, respecting others and respecting human life itself.
The Homework on Commemorative Speech-My Father
Over the years his real job has come with many different titles. For 50 years he has been a son and brother, for 31 he has been a loving father, for 26 he has been a dedicated husband, for 5 he has been a grandfather, and for 18 years and counting he has been and will always be my mentor. Today I would like to honor my father John Zachary Smith, and explain to you how and why he has become my ...
I feel that my moral code comes from my family and from sports even more specifically my coaches. It comes from my family because my parents have always taught me to respect everyone and everything in life, but they also never taught me to fear anything either. Like when I meet someone that is always older than me I always refer to them as Mr. or Mrs. because I always feel that is what my parents taught me. They also taught me always be a leader and don’t follow the crowd. Also throughout my years of playing sports my coaches have gave me a moral code.
My coaches have always taught me that you must work hard at everything you do. Also they taught nothing is going to be easy and that you must give a lot to get a lot. I feel that these are where my moral codes have come from throughout my life so far. I believe in Gods existence as does Lewis. In my life experiences and my observations of the world there are too many events that do not have a logical explanation. I t is difficult to not believe in a higher being with a set plan for the universe. I think it is impossible to not doubt Gods existence at times. Why did 9/11 occur?
Why do innocent children die in the world? If we believe in a divine existence it often allows us to move on from terrible tragedies and realize that good things still happen. If you have a strong belief in God and his existence you are able to turn to him in times of need and use this strength to cope. On the other hand how does one explain when so called miracles happen if there is not a higher existence for us to believe in? This leads me to the conclusion that I believe that God does exist. I would have to agree that my ideas of happiness are more in line with Lewis that Freud.
Lewis believes that most of our suffering comes from other human beings. Lewis discussion of the role of free will in creating happiness or unhappiness is interesting. It is true that all humans are unique and often through their actions or beliefs can make other human beings unhappy. However without the free will which all humans have it would also be very difficult to be happy. Our lives would entail very little decision making and everyone would lead similar lives and individuality would be non existence. Lewis’s ideas that without a relationship with our creator, our lives will always be lacking interests.
The Essay on Meaning to Human Life
Is there any meaning to human life? After listening to the first two lectures I gathered what I felt to be Professor Amrbosio’s definitions of the hero and the saint. I took notes and after going back through and reading them it helped me to put a few things together. He asks the question about whether or not human existence is meaningful or absurd. We live in a hostile and deadly environment so ...
Humans frequently turn to God when times are the most difficult for us and it is often through our relationship with God that we find comfort and hope I feel it is almost impossible to live life without regard for other human beings. A huge part of our existence is our relationship with other human beings. No man is an island is a true concept. We need others for friendship, love, and social interaction which all make us more complete human beings. Through good deeds and actions we can lead a more fulfilled and satisfying life.
It is almost impossible to feel comfortable with yourself without having regard for others and showing passion for those less fortunate. Lewis’ view, “Love thy neighbor as thyself” is closest to my worldview when it comes to relating to others. First of all, he believes in order to love your neighbor “as yourself” you need to be able to show love to yourself before you show love to someone else. It is important that you’re able to take care of yourself and treat yourself with respect even when you don’t like yourself. Similarly, it’s important to show the same respect to others whether or not you like them.
According to Freud the basic of love and friendship all relates to sexuality. Lewis believes that there are four different types of love: ranging from love between friends, love between family members, intimate love and charitable love. Lewis says that charitable love is really about respect. It is the kind of love you can show to anybody whether or not you like them or not. I agree with Lewis. I have always been the kind of person to show respect to everybody. Whether someone is older, younger, bigger, smaller, whether I like them or not I always make an effort to show everyone respect.
Two events which had a profound effect on Lewis view of human suffering were the death of his mother and years later his wife. Lewis began to ask the question that many of us ask when bag things happen. If God is good why did he let this happen to me? Lewis finally realized that one of the reasons his time of mourning was so difficult was that he was not focusing on God but rather focusing on himself. Freud’s human suffering was based more on a prevailing attitude of anti-Semitism which he experienced in different stages of his life. He felt many of his theories and ides were rejected because of an anti-Semitic attitude of many people.

Freud believed our pain was caused by other people. Freud felt that good people are often ones who suffer the most as a result they create an evil figure such as the devil to take the blame. I think that Lewis view of human suffering was more helpful to me in dealing with losses in my life. There is no avoiding pain in life but if you believe that pain and suffering is not permanent you are able to go on with you life. If we do believe that God controls our destiny we have to use our faith and trust to get through the most difficult times in our lives.
