Think about a world without entertainment, a world without music. Not only would it be a very boring world, but also it would also not be educational in a way. In old and/or new songs, there is a lesson to be learned or a lesson being taught. An example of this is every song in the “School House of Rock.” What I am trying to say is that music is important because it teaches you a lesson and it can set you in a totally different mood than you were in beforehand.
If you have not noticed, in every single song you have heard recently, the artist is teaching you usually about a lesson in life that you are going to encounter someday. For an example you can listen to a rapper named Nas single hit called, “I Know I Can.” In this song, he talks about crack and all the bad drugs out there that are easily to get hooked on, going into adult clubs underage, and about people being raped or killed. Not only that, in his music video Nas and the kids say, “I know I can (I know I can) Be what I want to be (Be what I want to be) If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it) I will be where I wanna be (I will be where I wanna be.)” This is telling people mainly kids and teenagers not to do anything stupid in life and work hard at it, and you will be able to achieve all of your goals in life. For an incentive, Nas tells everybody that they were really wealthy and had kingdoms before gold was converted into money. This is a well-known song and so far I do not know anybody who likes rap that does not know or like that particular song from Nas. In fact, for some people that I know, it puts them into a totally different mood.
The Research paper on Australian Aborigines World Music
Until this paper, I never even knew there was such a word as "Aborigine" let alone it being a race of people dating back to the prehistoric times. I thought that all Australians were of Anglo decent, but I was wrong about that assumption. The Aborigines were the first and only inhabitants of Australia, until the late 18 th century when European settlers came. Because of the Europeans, the ...
Have you ever been in a bad mood and put on a song that you like? Well I do not know about you but I have. In fact, it happened to me just a couple weeks ago. What happened was that I did something really bad on January 17th of 2004. My parents got really angry at me and at first I could handle it. But like most of us, we loose our patients and temper. My mom grounded me for a month and for some reason that really made me mad. I tried everything to make me calm down but nothing was working. Then I heard someone listening to some music and then it hit me. I put on one of my favorite emotional songs and it set me in a totally different mood. The song is called, “Hold On,” by Good Charlotte. This song just gives me faith that it will get better and for some reason it connects to me because every time I listen to it, it gives me this spine and body tingling sensation when I listen to it. After I listened to the song a couple of times, I calmed down a lot and got the courage to tell my mom that I was sorry for doing the thing that I did and for getting into an emotional word fight with her. What I am trying to tell you here is that music can alter moods and in this case, put you in an angry mood into a forgiving and happy mood. Although it may sound like it right now, I do not listen to music just to change my mood, but also to entertain me when I am bored.
As Billy Joel once said, “I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music,” music is a lesson teaching and mind-setting activity that us humans listen to and do.
