The Vacation
Joshua Pedro Robert Hathaway English Comp. 1021 “Classification” The car smells of stale French Fries, the seats are uncomfortable, the air is heavy with reuse, and the driver’s eyes are drooping heavily as mile upon mile has passed before his eyes. The sun is usually setting as the tired legs wearily lift an even more tired, slumping body from what seems to be the grave of the day. The desired destination looms before the tired legs as they attempt to traverse towards the room in which they will inhabit for the duration of their stay. The idea of a perfect day on vacation has a different meaning for different generations, and the way that each different generation would spend their “perfect day” on vacation is definitely different from the others! While some thoughts of the “perfect day” are the same for all of the generations, it may be best to focus on the major differences. Three of the most generalized groupings of generations of vacationers are the grandparent-aged, the parent-aged, and the children-aged, all of which are worth mentioning and discussing. The first group of the generations are the elderly, grandparent-aged groups.
This is the type of traveler that wears high socks, shorts above their belly buttons, baseball caps or sombreros, and gob on sunscreen. Grandparents awaken seemingly early, and usually find the time to go walking, eat a light breakfast, and play tennis. After their morning activities, they almost always enjoy meandering around town, walking through numerous churchyard cemeteries, and browsing through every gift shop in town looking for the “perfect” gift for some friend who goes to their crocheting club or someone they see at bingo tournaments. Their days do not often include a lot of time directly in the sun if it can be avoided. They love going places in town because for once they are able to buy their daily coffee from a place different than the Starbucks right by their regular house. The second generalized group is the parent-aged vacationer. The parents are often awoken to their children gleefully bouncing on their bed in excitement and look forlornly upon the deep, comfortable pillows and blankets that they’re leaving behind, to gather up Froot-Loops off of the floor and pour orange juice. Their consideration of a perfect day would involve staying in bed until their bladders could no longer hold the urgency to go to the bathroom and lazily eating a late breakfast whilst basking in the early afternoon sun.
The Term Paper on Generation Difference in Preferences
People vary depending on their race, culture and generation. As of now, there are many peoples in the world, although from the same race and culture but from different generations. These people have their own beliefs and cultural modification as the generation gets younger. Today’s generation have a big difference when it comes to preferences. Some might be inclined to demand more of what is ...
They even think to themselves that they would be fine sleeping the entire day away! During the afternoon, after they had been at the (in their minds), crowded, hot and expensive water park with their kids for many hours, the parents relax and enjoy the warm sun by the pool. Many times parent aged travelers bring along work that they “need” to get done. In the evening the parents settle down and watch the weather forecast for the next day. Eventually, as the sleepiness can no longer be fought, the parents raise the surrender flag by shutting the TV off and climbing into bed, with those warm, deep, comfortable pillows and blankets that they had left against their will that morning. The children-aged vacationers awake and are promptly making enough noise to arouse and awaken even the heaviest sleeper. The children usually have one purpose in mind as soon as they wake up: the pool, where they can swim, dive, and cannon-ball to their hearts’ content. In their minds, a simple water slide can seem like the most magnificent waterpark ever and they tend to wear themselves out almost completely before two in the afternoon!
Their hair becomes quite coarse as the bleach has penetrated deep into their scalps and their fingers are shriveled due to the intense amount of time in the water. They heed not warnings of sunburn and proceed to fry their bodies with an enormous amount of time in the sun. After dinner during the evening, the children are usually the first to drowse, their little bodies completely tuckered out after a day of relishing fun in the sun. They most often have to be slowly carried to their beds as they dream of geckos, beach towels, and cold water running over their already sunburned skin. The three different generations conveyed are separated by age, and are also separated by the way that each enjoys a day on vacation. Part of the wonderful way that these groups are separated is the way that each group acts differently upon the feelings that they have towards situations presented before them, such as vacations. Generations throughout history have been classified separately, but nevertheless the three generations touched on are still unified and in a class of their own. When put together they share the love and strong bond of being part of the same family.
The Essay on Parents in child’s life
Parents are an integral part of any child’s life. They are his safe haven, his stepping stones and his personal cheerleaders. They are the people who create a person in the first place hence he/she owes their existence to them (Laura, 11). They give a child his name, his characteristics and his personality. They also give him both his negative and positive traits. So, in my opinion it is a ...
