The Silverado includes a 4.8L V8 FlexFuel engine that produces 302 horsepower and 305 ft-lbs of torque. This engine provides high quality power for the price that it is offered at. Also, the FlexFuel engine allows the Silverado to run on regular unleaded gasoline, E85 ethanol, or a combination of both. The Silverado gets roughly 15 miles per gallon in the city, and roughly 22 miles per gallon on the highway while running on regular unleaded fuel. This is also a respectable output in fuel mileage for a full-sized pickup. The maximum payload for the Silverado is 1,598 lbs.

Ford’s model of a full-sized pickup is called the F-150. The 2013 F-150 starts at $23,670. The Kelly Blue Book Consumer Rating gives the F-150 an 8.2 out of 10. The F-150 engine package includes a 5.0L V8 engine that produces 360 horsepower and 380 ft-lbs of torque. This engine outperforms the Chevy Silverado on power, however it cannot run on E85 ethanol without upgrading the performance package without increasing the overall value of the truck. The fuel mileage for the F-150 is approximately 14 miles per gallon in the city and 19 miles per gallon on the highway. Without the upgraded engine specifically created for better fuel mileage, the F-150’s stock engine is relatively average and lacks the fuel efficiency other manufactures have. The F-150 offers a maximum payload of 1710 lbs. This is the highest payload of any full-sized stock pickup truck on the market.
Overall the two models are very similar as stock models.
