Topic : What are the advantages and disadvantages in spending time in the workforce before embarking upon tertiary education? There are some major choices to be made at the end of compulsory school, in other words, it is needed for the students who finish their compulsory education to decide on the course whether or not to stay at school after graduation. According to Schools council (1995, p.1), Three out of four young stay at school until Year 12 and two out of three go on to further education. On the other hand, based on a sample of students from New South Wales questioned in 1992, only six per cent planned to leave school before Year 12. It is clear that most students stay in education to take more study and skill or find their future way, and it seems that staying at school is the norm at the present time. This essay will discuss that whether or not spending time in the workforce before pursuing tertiary education is advantageous to the future through the work in terms of some factors such as experience, knowing a society, labor market, and education. As the working place has been occupied the different types of world from the education, work experience is essential because many valuable things such as knowledge of labor market and the economy are gained from work experience, and it is also said that most forms of work experience are valued for the real, direct and immediate knowledge they give of the world of work and knowledge will usually be enhanced by direct experience of working situations(schools council, 1995, p.60~61).
Private Schools Public Education School
Private Schools The first position of chapter three is supportive of private schools. This position feels that private schools prevent the public schools from having a total monopoly over education by offering the community an alternative choice. This choice also produces competition with public schools for student enrollment. This position views public schools as something a student must accept ...
The more work experience is acquired, the more the rigour and prestige of the work experience is also acquired.
It goes without saying that there are more opportunity of gaining such knowledge and work experience in the workforce than in the school, so those who spend time in the workforce early on can get much knowledge and skills, which means it is easy to adjust to workplace even though working situations are changed in the future. Furthermore, as a result of gain knowledge, it is getting know how a whole society is, because usually the society reflects to the economy, and those who are working already can face reality and understand the harsh realities of working place. Therefore, because of the direct influence, it is much easier to find out what kinds of jobs are suitable and what is not suitable. On the other hand, it is also a fact that there are some difficulties in the labor market, which has been exerted a strong influence on the young. Schools council argued that there are fewer jobs available for the young and the labor markets of the future will draw on higher levels of general education, and their primary aim in staying at school is to improve their career opportunities even though their greatest worry is that it is not sure whether or not a good job will be available in the future(1995, p.12).
Moreover, according to Poole(1992, p.55),To the young people leaving education, it is abundantly clear that the social recognition of adulthood depends on successful entry to the paid workforce, which has been the main ultimate end of the education process.
so it seems that it is difficult for the young who have less education to find general acceptance to the society, especially to the workforce. The major thing, which is different between education and workforce, is a function. For example, the prime purpose of education has been to provide a workforce appropriately grades and trained for the needs of the labor market, and these are perceived at any particular time(Poole, 1992, p.55).

Summarise the roles and responsibilities of national and local government for education policy and practice National Government – As well as developing new ways into the quality of services available to children under the five outcomes of Every Child Matters, it is responsible for drawing up education policy, setting up and administering school league tables, funding research into projects for ...
Thus education has served much information, which the young labor eventually reaches appropriate occupational destinations and place in the social structure, and it will help the young to keep a careful eye on what is happening in the world, or what job, what will be happened in the future, because some just stay at school to look for the answer of what really want to do, or what job will be suit for. In conclusion this essay has attempted to discuss issues relating to the spending time in the workforce at early time through the eye of work. On balance, perhaps spending time at school, that is , in education, is more effective than in the workforce, because it will be too young to decide what job want to do in the future before finishing tertiary education. Although the tertiary education is not compulsory, the more good education can be received, such as building up our character and moral, and these things are needed for living together with many people in a society because human is a social animal.
