The purpose of the WPE is that students have writing ability as well as college-level writing ability. During the test, students write an essay clearly and effectively in the time allotted. If they want to pass exam, they need adequate writing ability such clear organization, specific examples, vivid details and specific writing development. All of these are not easy to achieve, especially for international students. Moreover, writing skill is one of the most important skills not only for studying but also for working. Therefore, I think California State education system must continuously defend the WPE and use WPE as the standard measure in order to guarantee that students have enough writing ability after their graduation.
