Summary
I have recently inherited my grandfather’s coffee shop which is located in downtown Greenville North Carolina between the Tipsy Teapot and Coffee Creamery. Our cafe offers many different kinds of specialized coffees, teas, a full service bakery, and homemade sandwiches, soups, and salads. This shop was opened in 1952 and it quickly became the place to be. Over the past five years business has declined. Now it is my job to bring my grandfather outdated system and traditional system to the new day to make it easier to maintain.
Competitive advantage
To gain a competitive advantage we must first research the competition by using vast scanning of environment around making an analysis of customer buying trends and traffic. This can be done by monitoring and also by reviewing their websites. We can gain vital information from them because it seems as if the surrounding competition have ample advertisement and advance technology needed to get our company to a successful stand point. We must first begin to advance our technologies by installing computers to allow us to take all the information out of my grandfather memory and place it onto a hard drive this should allow us to have accurate and up to date records. These records will include payroll, accounting, recipes, time sheets and much more.
We also have to develop and employee policy that will give than an effective amount of rules and regulation that will allow for business to flow more smoothly. Beginning to run specials in the community will also make us more connected to the community. The next step would be for us to come up with a menu that will allow our customers to find their favorite drinks and edible goods. We will also gain smart ideas from places like Wal-Mart that allows customers to sample bake good and small coffees. We will also begin to offer coupons for customers that have flashy pictures of our products.

Price and quality is another factor in maintaining and gaining new potential customers. We have to constantly search for the best quality products at the lowest cost to the company and customer that will allow for prices to stay below competitor without sacrificing the quality of the product.

Electronic business is the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in support of all the activities of business. As we begin to establish our company on a technical level we have to decide which e-business model best suits our businesses goal. We will be using to common methods including business-to-business and business-to-customer this will allow us to sell our products worldwide and increase our sales. The cost for using this method has little to no extra cost that will not add a more overhead cost to the existing cost. We must also build was for customer to pay which will include thru mail, money order, electronic check, debit or credit cards, PayPal. PayPal has begun to be commonly used. PayPal has begun to be commonly used by many companies because it is easier to store and secure. This website also has to be easy to find in doing so we will be adding it to popular search engines that will include Google, Yahoo, and Bing. This shall allow for an increase in customer satisfaction which is needed to build a successful business. The webpage that can be found on many search engines should be able to provide our customers and associates with valid information around the clock. It will also give us an insight on how our customers feel about our business through customer feedback and surveys on service, product, and wait time. The website should include history, menu with prices, promotions, online ordering, direction to store, hours, employment information, and mission and values. Our online order system will not only allow for our items to sold worldwide but it will also decrease the in-store wait time by allowing individual to order online and await for products to be finished quickly. Business-to-business can be used to allow our supplier to see what products are being sold and immediately re-order.

This will foster goodwill by showing the customer is important and Broadway Café is taking ownership of the problem. We will then have to acknowledge the problems that the associates have with using the new espresso machine and show the most effective and easy way to correct the problem. These methods will allow for the company to reach a high volume of customers in a fast pace at a low cost.
