“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
-Robert Frost
Wake up! The new world beckons.
Times are changing and you better cope with adapting to this change, else you shall be left behind in this rat-race of mankind. World is changing! It is changing fast! We are looking at and preparing for jobs and problems that don’t even exist. The era of communication is here. 7 billion humans inhabit the earth today and they face problems that did not exist about a decade back. The postulates of Darwin’s theories prove themselves. Struggle for existence; Survival of the fittest. Today, my nationality or my background doesn’t count. What counts is my intellect and intelligence.
You probably know about The Matrix. If not, then I hope you do know the red pill/blue pill metaphor. If you know neither, then you certainly need to wake up from your dream and read this article.
“You take the blue pill, the story ends; you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”
– The Matrix
I hope you’ll take the red pill.
When I say that we are living in exponential times, I mean it literally. The technical information is doubling every two years. That means for a student starting a four year degree, more than half of what he learns in the first year will be outdated by the third. The amount of unique data to be generated this year is estimated to be more than what has been generated in the past 5,000 years! We are preparing for jobs that don’t even exist, using technologies that haven’t been invented. We are preparing to solve problems that we don’t even know are problems yet. According to Richard Riley, the former secretary of education, U.S.A, the top 10 in demand jobs in 2010 didn’t exist in 2004!
The Term Paper on 14 Years Of Change In Sam Shepard’s Six Plays
Fourteen Years of Change in Sam Shepard's Six Plays Sam Shepard wrote his first two plays, Cowboys and Rock Garden at the age of twenty. Three years later, in 1966 his plays Chicago, Icarus's Mother and Red Cross won the Village Voice Obie Award for distinguished Playwriting. In 1968 Forensic and the Navigators and Melodrama Play won him his third Obie. In this paper I will focus on three of these ...
Doesn’t all this point out how important communication and innovation is? We need to communicate innovative ideas. The inventor of any technology enjoys success. Success today is un-biased. Cast, creed, sex, religion, color, nationality, etc. don’t matter. What matters is your idea. You have an idea, and you are successful. In order to communicate your innovative idea to the world you need leadership qualities. Critical thinking is also a necessary term in today’s world. You need to be absolutely analytical about the development and try to use it for your own benefit. Hence, for survival in today’s exponential and competitive times, these skills are very necessary.
Why is it that even after the humungous labor-surplus in the East, the West, till date, is regarded as more developed? Quite simple, the presence of intellect and innovation. Why it is that now the East is getting the upper hand? Even simpler, the presence of diligence and the ability to learn faster. The center of world economy is now shifting from the west to the east. From Europe and America to India and China, trade and hub of knowledge is shifting.
The average American teenager spends 700 hrs in the classroom and 800 hrs in front of the television set a.k.a. “idiot box”, every year. The average Indian teenager spends 700+800 hrs in the class room, every year. In a recent speech, American president Barrak Obama addressed the American teenagers-‘Beware, Indians and Chinese are coming.’
We Asians are taking the world by storm. By Asian I specifically mean the Indians and the Chinese. Partly because the next generations of these countries are the most knowledge-based and diligent and partly because these two nations are the world’s most populated countries. China specially is the epitome of utilization of human resources.
The Essay on Western World China Chinese Country
China is the perfect example of what happens when one leader is given to much power. The leaders of China were each very afraid of social reform, and the consequences that outside influence may have on their customs. As a means of initiating reform, they shut the entire Western world out almost completely. At the time it was a move that served China well but in the long run it was the downfall of ...
China or the revolutionary land of Mao, if I may coin the term, is taking the lead in the Global revolution that we are now experiencing. 25% of China’s top IQ people are more in number than the whole population of United States of America. Translation of the previous sentence can be something like this- China has more than double, honors children than America. China will soon be the number one English speaking nation. Therefore the notion that trade is tough with China is fundamentally flawed.
China’s history is a proof of the great nation’s rise and rise. The country’s laws and development schemes are the best one can come across. It is because of great and ambitious leaders like Mao, that the country is now one of the superpowers of the world. Although, the country had a bit rigid and strict ideology, they always pushed it up the ladder.
One can’t agree more to the fact that education is not about memorizing but exploring. The more you explore and discover this amazing world, the better you become and more you learn. Getting to interact with people opens to you a whole new vista of experiences. Experience is the best teacher, indeed. Exploring the world around, you get innovative ideas, and perhaps you already know the importance of ideas, don’t you? Across the globe there are millions of communities working on the principal-“Think local, go global.” I think it is high time now to bring these communities together for the latter half of the ideology, going global. This can only be achieved by traveling across the world and absorbing the best ideas available and initiating innovation! How does one do that? Simple, we travel and learn. Every bit counts, because we aim at better mankind as a whole.
So, now with the facts and aims about education and the future of mankind I leave you to absorb the article. I hope my effort at enlightening you with some of the mind-boggling truths, important to the world we live in, was successful.
This is the end of the rabbit hole. Welcome to Wonderland!
