In today’s competitive market, one of the real advantages a company has is its people. Success relies on its ability to attract, retain and motivate its highly talented and technical workforce. Building a diverse workforce and creating an inclusive workplace is pivotal. Inclusion means bringing your whole self to work. It means an environment where everyone is engaged in their work and feels comfortable bringing personal and professional skills and talents to the work place. Demonstrating values and mindset of diversity and inclusion through examples such as: The success of diversity and inclusion efforts is part of what makes our organization an “amazing place” to work. The range of skills, interests and backgrounds we each bring to work every day makes the fabric of our workforce extremely successful and innovative.”Begin today by recruiting people to join NGES, nominate someone (or yourself) for an achievement award, join an Employee Resources Group or participate in one of many education outreach events.

All employees have a role in engagement, as it means you bring your whole self to work — your background, experience, culture and strengths. It means accepting that you are accountable for your actions, and responsible in your work habits. Engagement means understanding you make a difference every day – to your team, your functional group, the program you’re working on, and everyone you interact with. Engagement starts with you, and likely most directly impacts your team. Each team has the tools and power to make changes to encourage and support engagement, and we rely on everyone to contribute and make a difference. If you haven’t seen your team’s engagement results or been involved in action planning with your team, we encourage you to reach out to your manager to see how you can get involved.
