Title: Physical Inactivity
1. The general nature of the topic. How does it link to other subject areas?
Health, which cannot be purchased, is one of the most precious properties to human beings. For example, without it humans cannot enjoy life even if they are rich, and they cannot lead a productive and worthy life. If an individual were paid millions of dollar to sell his or her health, he or she would deny that without hesitation. “One thing is sure; you don’t miss something till you lose it,” as Alejandro (2008) mentions in a website article entitled, ” Your Health is your First Responsibility”. Some people do not appreciate heath unless they become ill. After experiencing some diseases, they become conscious of their heath and attempt to prevent health problems by changing life styles- engaging in physical activities. Nevertheless, there are people who are not concerned about their bodies’ need for physical exercise; they are ignorant and unconscious about the importance of exercise. Physical inactivity is the topic that will be discussed in this research paper.
This research topic is linked to three subjects such as psychological, physical and academic areas. Firstly, it is related to psychology in terms of how physical activity can play a vital role in changing individuals’ feelings such as stress and depression and how it can be one of the reasons for ignoring physical exercises. Secondly, it is connected to physical area; for example in terms of how physical exercise can help people to maintain a healthy life and it may be a barrier that prevents people from physical activity. Thirdly, it is linked to academic life in terms of how it can improve students’ academic performance at school and how it might be one of the barriers that lead to physical inactivity.
The Term Paper on Why People Exercise
In this assignment we will be looking at why people exercise and why they don’t. This assignment will also include what barriers there are to exercise and determinants of exercise adherence they include; personal, demographic, environmental and cognitive. We will also look at behavioural change models they are; transtheoretical model — Prochaska and Di Clemente; health belief model, theory of ...
2. Why I am personally interested in this topic?
I am interested in this topic for several reasons. Last summer, as I was jogging through the yard, I was thinking of a topic for the research project. As I was thinking, I encountered my sister, Asma, (a 19-year- old) gazing at me and laughing. With a strange look, she asked, “Why are you wasting your time?” Then, we disagreed about whether girls should participate in sports or not. I promised her that I would do my best to convince her that engaging in athletics is important in life. This is the first reason that made me enthusiastic to choose this topic. The second reason is that as I will be a teacher, I want to know the benefits of physical exercise to raise a positive attitude about athletics among Omani girls by guiding them to spend some time to exercise and encouraging them to engage in sports. The third reason is that many diseases like high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, diabetes and breast cancer have been spreading rapidly in Oman so we have to take an action to encourage Omani girls to prevent these diseases by being physically active.
3. The precise nature of the research project:
This research project aims to explore how do Omani girls perceive physical activity? My research question is, “Why do not Omani girls engage in regular vigorous physical athletics?“ I am going to investigate the attitude of Omani girls (16-25-years-old) to physical activity and the barriers that prevent them from engaging in organized athletics. Also, I am going to find out whether Omani girls consider physical exercise as a crucial part in their life or not. And if they consider it, to what extent do they engage in physical activity and what type of sports do they largely participate in?

4. Further explanation:
Physical activity among girls is an important topic to be discussed for many reasons. Lewis, (1985) mentions that breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women; for example, 1 in 11 women has a breast cancer . There is a close relationship between physical activity and breast cancer. According to a website article entitled, “Physical Activity and Cancer” it has been stated that most studies in breast cancer concluded that women who are physically active have a lower risk of breast cancer than women who are inactive. Therefore, it is crucial to put emphasis on this topic to prevent breast cancer among women in Oman. Obesity, which is linked to physical activity, is another reason for considering physical activity as an important topic. It is very common in Omani society to see people who are complaining of obesity. As it is associated with wide range of diseases such as heart diseases, mood disorders, eating disorders and some cancers(George, p31), we have to make girls aware of this disease by encouraging them to exercise. The last reason is that, many girls do not exercise because of traditional barriers so discussing this issue may help them to eradicate wrong beliefs that are related to participating in sports.
Although the access to physical athletics is available in Oman, most of the girls in Oman do not participate in these activities. I hope this research would help me to investigate the reasons behind this issue. I will, also, focus on the strategies that can eager Omani girls to participate in physical activities.
5. Data I will you collect
Questioner distribution and interviews can be used to accomplish successful results for the research. A questionnaire will be distributed among schools, Sultan Qaboos University and Dhofar University students. Dividing them into three groups can manifest the attitude of these girls toward engaging in athletics and can help me to know whether academic level, and regional and age differences have effect on their attitudes toward physical activity or not. Grouping them by this way, may help me to know the barriers that girls face when they want to engage in sports, too. The distribution of this questionnaire will be mostly at SQU because there are girls from different Omani regions; it becomes easy for me to know their attitudes toward athletics.
The Essay on Opinion Girls Vs Boys Sports
Girl’s Sports vs. Boy’s Sports I am a 16-year-old female athlete at Branford High School. I am a goalkeeper for the soccer team at school and have played number one doubles my freshman year for the Varsity Tennis Team. In past years I have played Field Hockey, Basketball, Softball, and swimming. Going from one practice to another. Coming home tired like many other athletes. Most of my friends are ...
I will also hold interviews with athletic girls at Sport Hall in SQU, girls who are physically inactive and a doctor from SQU Hospital to know the diseases that are correspondent with being inactive and whether lack of exercise is a serious health issue in Oman.
