(1898 1941) Before 1898, Americans perspective seems to be procrastinating to foreign wars, even though world suffered from tyranny. In 1898, Americans fate was altered by one major decision. The nation experienced a historic turn from being republic to becoming a monarchy. In this year the government decided to host a war against Spanish to free Cuba and Philippines from the Spanish despotism. American president McKinley became the pioneer to introduce the new concept though the process of alteration initiated about a century ago. The triggering factor for the war aroused when Cubans concerned for independence from Spain. Few American investors in Cuba were ill-treated, but this was not the only reason behind the war. When McKinley took over the post he was in an idea to expand Americas mission in the world. His plans for the war were later commented as Large Policy. This was the first lead by United States after realizing its Global Responsibility for peace.
At the end of Spanish-American war, U.S took over Puerto Rico and freed Cuba and annexed the Hawaiian Islands. The war ended when Filipino fighters surrendered and Aguinaldo was captured in March 1901. By then Americans power grew in Asian countries and entered into imperialistic struggle in the Far East. American success were proved when Secretary of State John Hay announced publicly the open Door policy in China: American diplomatic, political, and if necessary, military power would be functioned to force free trade throughout China. In February 1917, United States ruined the diplomatic relations with Germany resulting in World War I, which involved a difficult conflict between several European powers.
